Longitudinal Family OCD Study

This study is being conducted by researchers at Massachusetts General Hospital in conjunction with McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School.  The aim of this study is to identify genes, brain regions, and environmental factors that may be involved in the onset of OCD.  By identifying these factors, we may come closer to developing new treatments as well as measures to prevent OCD in the future.  This study is privately funded.

Who is eligible to participate in this study?

We are seeking families with at least one member with a diagnosis of OCD who displayed symptoms before age 18, and at least one child of at least 7 years of age and under the age of 13 in the family who does not have OCD. All families must be English-speaking.

What is involved?

There will be a one-time psychological assessment of all family members. Subsequently, there will be annual phone-call follow-ups of the child at risk for OCD. This initial assessment will involve a comprehensive neuropsychological battery and/or interview.
